The Ocemg system works in favor of the growth and development of Cooperativism, by providing orientation and proper support needed for an efficient management of the sector, and as a result, empowering the cooperative communities.
As a joint venture of the Syndicate and the Organization of the Cooperatives in Minas Gerais State (Ocemg) – a political representation agency, employer’s organization and defending the cooperativism in the State and by the Cooperativism National Learning Service in Minas Gerais (Sescoop-MG) – the organization is responsible for the several activities in professional training, monitoring and social promotion of the many cooperatives in Minas Gerais. The outcome is a consolidated system with strong credibility that covers an universe of 770 plus cooperatives in different industries and counting over one million members, who are responsible for R$ 32 billion in annual transaction.

We are talking about an initiative that is promoted by entrepreneurship, not the personal one, but the one that is the joint of forces of a group of individuals that want to be more competitive. Thus, guided by the values and principles of Cooperativism, 12,7 millions of Brazilians from every corner of the country has conquered their financial independency following the cooperative way of work, ensuring their families’ livelihood.
More than that, distributed over 6,5 thousands of cooperatives in 13 different industries , they play a distinguished role in the market and contribute to the development of the very community they are inserted in, be that in the countryside or in the urban area. Specifically in the rural area, 1,543 cooperatives help heat up the country’s economy with 993.6 thousand members, generating 180,9 thousand direct job positions, in different market segments. For instance, the cooperatives are responsible for 48% of the coffee production in Brazil, and in Minas Gerais, this figure reaches half of the total produced.
